Pop sensation Troye Sivan has officially announced his highly anticipated fourth studio album, "She's The Best," set to drop on October 9th. This new offering follows his critically acclaimed 2023 release, "Something To Give Each Other." To kick things off, Sivan has unveiled the album's title track, accompanied by a visually stunning video featuring none other than AMC icon Nicole Kidman and drag legend Sasha Colby.
The video marks a notable reunion for Sivan and Kidman, who previously shared the screen in the 2018 film "Boy Erased." For Kidman, this appearance is particularly special, being her first music video role in 25 years, adding an extra layer of buzz to an already exciting release. The collaboration underscores the artistic depth and star power behind Sivan's latest project.
"She's The Best" as a track is described as unexpected yet a revelation upon multiple listens. Understated and poetic, it features Sivan's spoken-word lyrics dedicated to an anonymous feminine muse. The song delves into themes that celebrate women, particularly trans women, for their ambition, passion, and creativity, working hard to be seen and valued. Sparse piano complements words that touch on raw imagery like "thin cigarettes, cum-stained dresses, and takedowns of incels," offering a powerful and unfiltered tribute.
In a press release, Sivan shared his personal connection to the album's themes. "She’s the Best is a painting that captures my life in all of its moods and colours," he stated. "It explores the high-octane highs of the last few years, and the solitude and longing that sat underneath. It’s chaotic, layered, organic, troubled and alive. It feels like the truest and most creative version of myself I’ve ever shared. At some point along the way I realised - the only constant in my life keeping me somewhat sane has not been the work, or the men, but the feminine. Thank god for them."
Sivan crafted the title track alongside acclaimed collaborators Leland, George Daniel, Jack Antonoff, and Styalz Fuego. "She's The Best" is slated for release via Tokky's/Interscope, promising a profound and artistically rich chapter in Sivan's evolving career.
