Buffering My Sanity: A Poem
Buffering My Sanity: A Poem
Why Night In With Netflix Feels Like a Quest: Ads, Buffering, and Lost Remotes
sat down with snacks for a quiet night in,
But Netflix had questions before I could begin.
“Are you still watching?” well obviously yes,
Or I'd already be on Insta, stalking my ex's finsta.
I’ve only binged five seasons… I’m barely a mess.
YouTube’s like, “Try Premium!” bro, relax,
I’m just here for cat videos and random life hacks.
One ad plays a baby shampoo symphony,
Next ad: Become an AI millionaire instantly!
The Wi-Fi drops dead like a lazy old cat,
The pixelated 'fluencers look like Minecraft… but flat.
Buffering wheel spinning, like “you chose this pain,”
I’m questioning life choices again and again.
The remote’s lost forever, must be in Narnia,
Rebooting the TV like I’m hacking the CIA.
And every film trailer tells the whole story
Why even watch the movie? I don't wanna be sorry.
Netflix takes hours to find the right show,
Too scary? Too cheesy? Too mind-numbing? No.
Finally click one, oops, wrong audio track…
Why is everyone speaking in Korean? Come back!
YouTube autoplay’s like a clingy ex,
“You wanted conspiracy theories, right?”, absolutely next.
Also: “Shorts” = scroll and forget your whole life,
Oh look, it’s 3am, well THAT was precise.
Streaming was supposed to be chill and sublime,
But choosing a movie takes more than screen time.
Still, we complain while we sit here for hours:
Because boredom offline exceeds all streaming powers.
