Kneecap Ignite Reading 2026 with Fierce Politics & Party Anthems

The final hours of Reading 2026 were far from winding down, as Belfast rap trio Kneecap took to the stage, transforming a rain-soaked field into a charged arena of political discourse and electrifying music. Following a biblical downpour courtesy of Florence + The Machine, sodden festival-goers found their second wind for what proved to be a defiant and unforgettable performance.

Kneecap, known for seamlessly weaving their party anthems with poignant political messages, kicked off their set with a now-traditional message beamed to the crowd, accusing Israel of committing genocide against the people of Palestine and Lebanon, with the UK government's alleged complicity.

This set the tone for a performance where entertainment and activism walked hand-in-hand.

Mo Chara, one-third of the dynamic trio, eloquently stated, "We use our platform to talk about what we believe is right." He rallied the crowd with loud chants of "fuck Netanyahu" and "free free Palestine," paying tribute to those who lack a similar platform.
