Ed Sheeran Tour Rocked: All Openers Quit After Macklemore's Palestine Stance!

Ed Sheeran's "Loop" tour is facing significant upheaval after all of his scheduled opening acts have withdrawn in solidarity with Macklemore, who was reportedly dismissed after publicly expressing support for Palestine. This chain of events leaves Sheeran's tour without any supporting artists for its remaining dates.

The controversy began when Macklemore made "Free Palestine" comments during his performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4 and 5. Following these remarks, Macklemore was dismissed from the tour. He later released a statement accusing billionaire Robert Kraft of orchestrating his departure by pressuring stadium owners.

Ed Sheeran, for his part, stated that Macklemore's removal was not his decision and that he attempted to intervene.

In a wave of solidarity, other artists swiftly followed suit in withdrawing from the tour. Finneas, who was slated to open for Sheeran on six South American dates in late November and early December, announced his decision on social media.

"Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed," Finneas wrote, adding, "I stand with Palestine and its people." Singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe and Irish band Beoga also declared their departure, echoing similar sentiments. Rowe, highlighting his Irish heritage, stated, "As Irish people, we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation.

I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children. I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal.

I need to be true to myself and my ancestors who resisted colonisation, and fought for a freedom that I enjoy today in Ireland." He concluded his note with "Free Palestine." Minutes after Finneas's statement, Lukas Graham also announced their withdrawal. "We should be able to speak about war, about civilians being killed, about children who deserve to grow up. Wherever they live.

Whatever flag flies over them," they wrote on Instagram.

"I can't put these words out into the world and carry on with this tour as things stand. We're withdrawing from the remaining dates." The mass exodus of opening acts underscores a growing tension between artistic expression, political activism, and the commercial pressures of the music industry.

As the "Loop" tour continues without support, the focus shifts from the music to the powerful statements made by these artists.
