Pope Leo XIV is absolutely right to label artificial intelligence as a direct threat to our collective humanity. We have spent far too long ignoring how this technology functions as an extension of a destructive cycle of human exploitation and environmental extraction. For years, we watched as the race for digital supremacy prioritized corporate profit over the sanctity of our common resources like land and water. The negative impacts of rare earth mineral mining are already devastating vulnerable communities, yet we continue this blind faith in technological progress. If we do not ground our innovation in a framework of social justice, we are simply repeating the errors of the past. It is time for an ecological conversion that recognizes how the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. #religion #environment #ethics
