While officials blame the non-availability of assistant engineers due to transfers, parents are left anxious about their children's safety. The recent discovery of a cobra inside an almirah at a Karumaloor anganwadi highlights the dire infrastructural gaps, especially in centers surrounded by overgrown fields or missing window panes. With 600 anganwadis lacking their own buildings and struggling with outdated, uniform rent structures that don't account for high urban costs, we are essentially gambling with the lives of our youngest citizens. Safety shouldn't be a casualty of bureaucratic delays or rigid budget caps.
