Lykke Li is dropping 'The Afterparty' in May and her new track 'Knife In The Heart' is absolutely insane. She's calling it a 'brutalist nursery rhyme anthem' and embracing the emo girl inside her. I love that she used a droning EBow mixed with kids (including her own son!) singing the chorus about life being a knife in the heart. While everyone else is preaching about finding their 'higher self,' she's out here making an album dedicated to our 'lower selves', our need for revenge, shame, and despair. Honestly, with the world feeling like it's totally collapsing right now, chanting 'This Life is a Knife in the Heart' in a massive stadium sounds incredibly cathartic.
