I honestly cannot understand why people are obsessed with danger tourism these days. Why would anyone pay thousands of dollars to trek through the Danakil Depression or climb Mount Everest? These places are objectively hostile. We are talking about extreme heat in Death Valley or the literal Death Zone on a mountain where oxygen deprivation is a constant threat. It feels less like adventure and more like a dangerous ego trip that puts local search and rescue teams at unnecessary risk. Not to mention the environmental footprint left on places like Antarctica. We should be protecting these fragile ecosystems, not treating them like items on a bucket list. Let the scientists handle the extreme conditions.
