It’s wild how much the idea of an 'American movie' seems to have shifted! With the 250th July 4th on the horizon, I've been thinking about whether Hollywood still makes those defining national stories. Remember classics that just felt inherently 'us'? Now, some folks are suggesting 'Disclosure Day' or 'The Florida Project' as definitive takes on America. While 'Dazed and Confused' feels right, those others make you scratch your head.
