It is absolutely heartbreaking to hear how talent is sidelined just because of narrow definitions of what a person from a specific region should look like. We often talk about inclusivity, but when someone tries to break into the film industry, they are met with insults and told they do not look 'Malayali enough' or that their physique is a disadvantage. Imagine leaving a stable software engineering job to follow a dream, only to be told by so-called professionals that your face does not fit the culture because you care about fitness! The prejudice against good-looking, fit actors is just as bad as any other bias. We need to stop these gatekeepers and fake directors who demand money for roles and start valuing the relentless passion and hard work people put into their craft.
