It is absolutely disgraceful that over fifty anganwadis in our district are operating without basic fitness certificates because of administrative delays and the non-availability of engineers. We are gambling with the safety of our toddlers! Recently, a cobra was found inside an almirah at a Karumaloor anganwadi because of a missing window pane. How can we expect parents to trust these centers when buildings are surrounded by overgrown thickets or operating out of crumbling rented spaces? The government fixes the same low rent for both urban and rural areas, making it impossible to find safe buildings in cities like Kochi. If we cannot prioritize the lives of children over bureaucratic transfers and rigid rent policies, we are failing as a society.
