Most of us drop off our old fast-fashion hauls thinking they’ll be reborn as new outfits, but the reality is way darker. Instead of being recycled, the vast majority of these garments are just shredded into low-grade industrial stuffing or shipped off to developing countries where they often end up in massive landfills. It's essentially a way for brands to outsource their waste problem while making us feel good about buying more. We need to stop seeing 'recycling' as a magic fix for overconsumption. If it’s just ending up as insulation or trash in another country, is it even recycling? We need to demand better textile-to-textile tech and actually slow down our shopping habits.
