It is absolutely disgraceful that over 50 anganwadis in Ernakulam are operating without mandatory fitness certificates months after the academic year started. We are talking about the safety of our youngest children! Apparently, administrative delays like transfers of assistant engineers are being prioritized over the physical safety of these buildings. Just recently, a cobra was found inside an anganwadi almirah because of a broken window pane and overgrown surroundings. How can we expect parents to trust these centers when they lack basic infrastructure? Moreover, 600 centers don't even have their own buildings, forced into cramped rentals because the fixed rent policy is totally disconnected from urban realities. We need immediate inspections, better funding for dedicated buildings, and a complete overhaul of how local bodies manage these vital childcare spaces. Now! #parenting #safety #governance
