I’ve spent years championing laptops and tablets in the classroom, thinking they were the ultimate tool for the future of education. But honestly? I’m calling it.

The 'Ed Tech revolution' has been one big broken promise. Instead of fostering deep thinking or creativity, screens have mostly become expensive distraction machines. I'm seeing kids lose the ability to focus on a single page, and the promised 'personalized learning' feels more like algorithm-driven busywork.

One of the earliest adopters of this tech recently decided to toss the computers out entirely and go back to basics: pens, paper, and actual human interaction. It sounds radical in this digital age, but maybe we’ve been valuing the gadget over the student all along. We need to stop assuming that more tech equals better learning.

It’s time to bring back the focus. If we want kids to actually learn, we need to minimize the noise and maximize the connection.
