In Ernakulam, dozens of anganwadis are operating without mandatory fitness certificates simply because of administrative delays and staff transfers. It is absolutely terrifying to hear about cobras entering classrooms because of broken windows and overgrown surroundings. These centers are supposed to be safe havens for learning, not hazard zones. Whether it is the lack of proper buildings or the measly rent allowances that force these centers into dilapidated structures, the system is failing. We need immediate inspections, better funding for urban rentals, and zero tolerance for safety lapses. Our children's lives are worth more than bureaucratic excuses about missing assistant engineers.
