Getting a 'normal' blood test result when you feel like absolute garbage is one of the most frustrating experiences in modern medicine. We are conditioned to think that if the numbers fall within the standard reference range, we are perfectly healthy. But a single lab result is just a snapshot in time; it does not show the long-term trajectory.
If your HbA1c is 'normal' at 40 today, but it was 30 two years ago, you are clearly trending toward a disease process. Plus, many debilitating conditions like fibromyalgia, POTS, or early-stage cancers simply do not show up on routine panels. We need to stop treating labs as the ultimate target and start looking at the clinical picture.
If symptoms persist, 'normal' should not be the end of the conversation. Context matters.
