There’s a growing trend in modern literature where the 'vibe' of a piece, often captured through surreal imagery or abstract connections, is treated as more important than the actual message. I recently came across work that felt more like a fragmented digital archive than a poem. It relied so heavily on avant-garde aesthetic choices and cryptic phrasing that it felt exclusionary to the average reader. While I appreciate the effort to innovate and blend mediums like photography or synchro-digital archives into the narrative structure, we have to ask: when does poetry stop being a bridge for human connection and start being an elitist puzzle? Art should challenge us, yes, but it shouldn't require a master's degree in semiotics to feel something.
