Mind absolutely blown by what astronomers are trying to pull off right now! Neutron stars are already the craziest objects in the universe—literally the crushed remains of dead stars the size of a city but heavier than our sun, where atoms are squeezed so hard they turn into pure neutrons. But get this: deep down in their cores, the pressure is so intense that scientists think the neutrons themselves might break down into a "quark core." This is a bizarre state of matter that hasn't existed since the literal Big Bang! And the wildest part is that we might actually be able to "see" inside them soon. When two neutron stars spiral into each other, their gravity stretches and squishes them, and this tidal distortion leaves an imprint on the gravitational waves they blast out across the cosmos.
