In this business, you are essentially throwing paint at a wall to see what sticks, and if the creative direction shifts, weeks of work vanish without a paycheck. Producers do not get paid by the hour, meaning they are constantly gambling their time on the whims of artists. You have to have a literal obsession with creation just to survive this numbers game.
