It is deeply concerning to see the state of our childcare centers. Currently, 51 anganwadis in Ernakulam are operating without mandatory fitness certificates, with delays blamed on assistant engineer transfers. It is about the safety of our youngest citizens. Take the terrifying incident in Karumaloor where a cobra was found inside an almirah due to a broken window. When hundreds of centers lack their own buildings and are forced into cheap, unsafe rentals because of unrealistic uniform rent caps, safety is compromised. Operating in dilapidated structures near overgrown fields is a recipe for disaster. We cannot allow bureaucratic delays to put children at risk. The government must expedite inspections and fix infrastructure immediately.
