The Rolling Stones have confirmed a new album called Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10, with producer Andrew Watt returning after Hackney Diamonds. The record will feature 14 tracks and is preceded by the single In The Stars, which is out now. The creation took place at Metropolis Studios in West London, where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood worked alongside Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan. The sessions also included a posthumous contribution from Charlie Watts, recorded before his passing in 2021.
In a show of the band’s enduring collaborative spirit, Foreign Tongues will welcome an array of guests, including Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Jagger spoke about recording in London, saying, “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.” Richards added that the project maintains a continuity with Hackney Diamonds and captured a distinct London vibe during a month of concentrated work, while Wood praised the atmosphere and the band’s sharp focus.
The lineup of guests reads like a who’s who of rock, with McCartney and Smith among those lending their chemistry to the Stones’ new material.
