Macklemore, the Grammy-winning rapper, has found himself at the center of a significant controversy following powerful political statements made during his opening acts for Ed Sheeran’s current 'Mathematics Tour.' During performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4th and 5th, Macklemore delivered an impassioned plea, calling for “Free Palestine” and asserting that those in Gaza and the West Bank “have not been forgotten.”

The rapper’s speech extended beyond Palestine, encompassing other global causes. He publicly stated,

I say Free Palestine, free Cuba, Congo, Sudan and Iran and all the people of America who live in fear because of this terrorist organisation ICE.

His message was further amplified when he performed his pro-Palestine track, 'Hind’s Hall,' accompanied by visuals of Gaza projected onto the stadium screens, in front of an estimated 80,000 concert-goers.

The Israeli-American Council (IAC) has launched a petition urging Ed Sheeran and his management to remove Macklemore from the remainder of the tour. The petition criticized Macklemore for allegedly using a “global concert platform to advance a one-sided political agenda,” stating that the event was an Ed Sheeran concert, “not a political rally, not a protest.”
