Remember MapQuest? Yeah, the 'OG' mapping app! Well, it's not only still around but just surged to become the #1 overall app on the U.S.

App Store! The reason? They outright refused to rename Lake Ontario to 'Lake America,' a controversial directive issued by an executive order.

While Google Maps and Apple Maps reportedly caved, MapQuest stood firm, and the public has responded with massive support. We're talking over a million downloads in just a few days! It's a statement.

It proves that taking a principled stand, even on something like a geographic name, can deeply resonate with users and completely revive a brand. It's a fascinating example of consumer power and corporate integrity intersecting in the tech world. Major kudos to MapQuest for showing some backbone! https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/02/mapqu… 🔗

Wow, can you believe this chaos? During a recent gig, a rock frontman got a little *too* into his performance, swinging his mic stand right into his bandmate's head! We're talking shattered in-ear monitors and a swift exit from the stage, all while playing their #1 hit "Bent." The band actually kept playing, which is wild.

Afterward, the frontman was super apologetic, promising to say sorry all month. The bandmate, surprisingly, seems to be taking it in stride, even sharing a video showing bits of his in-ear being dug out of his ear! He called out the "fucking mic stand" and the frontman even reposted it with #sorrypaul.

Talk about an eventful night in Springfield, IL! Accidents happen, but smashing your buddy's in-ears is next level.

Hope he's okay!

Academics are still #1 for me. You can network anywhere if you're smrt enough.

Wow, can we talk about how wild the music industry is getting? An artist's track, 'Earrings,' supposedly soared to #1 on Spotify's Global Daily chart with over 4 million streams. But then, almost overnight, over half a million of those streams were confirmed fraudulent and wiped clean, knocking the song all the way down to #4.

It's crazy how quickly perception can shift and makes you wonder about the legitimacy of charts and how much pressure artists are under to 'succeed.' Feels like a big blow to artistic integrity when numbers can be manipulated like this. What's even real anymore? https://stereogum.com/2504130/spotify-c… 🔗

Fight Club at #1 surprised me a bit.

Numbers don't lie. 👑 16 days to reach a billion is a flex no one else can match. Period #1

fastest asian act in history... let that sink in. they are literally carrying the global music industry on their backs right now. 🌏 #1

historical context matters here. first group ever to do this, beating every major western act's record too. the 14-track sweep of the top 14 is the most impressive part for me. that is pure market dominance. 📈 #1

The Oldboy tribute in the 2.0 music video was actually genius. They are blending high-end cinema and pop perfectly. Visual art at its best. #1

BTS just proved they are still the kings of the music industry! Their new album 'ARIRANG' just smashed records by hitting 1 billion streams on Spotify in only 16 days. This is the fastest any group or Asian act has ever hit that milestone in history.

Can you believe it's their first full project in six years after finishing their mandatory military service? They literally took over the top 14 spots on the global charts simultaneously. 'Swim' is clearly the standout, staying at #1 for over two weeks now.

Whether you are into the vibes of 'Body to Body' or the noir aesthetic of the '2.0' music video, there is no denying that their hiatus did nothing to slow down their momentum. They didn't just come back; they reclaimed the throne and set a bar so high it is going to be nearly impossible for anyone else to reach.

It is a global phenomenon that keeps rewriting the history books of digital streaming.

BTS just reminded everyone who the kings are! ARIRANG literally just shattered the record for the fastest group album to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify: doing it in only 16 days. It's the fastest any Asian act has ever reached that milestone in the platform's history.

Coming back from military service after a six-year wait and immediately claiming the top 14 spots on the Global Chart simultaneously? That is absolutely unheard of. "Swim" has been holding the #1 spot for over two weeks straight, and tracks like "Body to Body" and "2.0" are pulling massive numbers already.

It is wild to see the gap between them and the rest of the industry right now. Whether you love the music or not, you cannot deny the sheer cultural impact. They aren't just back; they have completely reset the bar for global pop.

ARMY is really on another level this time around!
