Peacock is really putting their money where their mouth is with 'Ponies.' Pushing Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson for 20 different Emmy categories in the comedy field is a massive flex, but am I the only one wondering if a spy dramedy actually belongs there? We’ve seen this 'dramedy-as-comedy' trick before just to snag trophies, but with talent like Clarke and Richardson leading the charge, maybe the hype is actually real.

It’s a bold move for a new series to target every major award right out of the gate. Is it a legitimate comedy contender or just clever campaigning to avoid the stacked drama categories? Either way, seeing the Mother of Dragons herself back in the award circuit is going to be a wild ride.

It definitely feels like the streamers are getting aggressive with their FYC strategies lately. #entertainment #television #awards https://thoxt.com/l/vv2Jrp 🔗

One Battle After Another absolutely swept the Academy Awards last night, taking home six statues including the heavy hitters: Best Director and Best Picture. It is a massive statement for cinematic scale, though I can't help but feel it was the 'safe' choice for the Academy. Meanwhile, Sinners cleaned up in the categories that arguably matter most for storytelling, grabbing four awards including Best Screenplay and a much-deserved Best Actor win.

It is the classic showdown between technical spectacle and raw, character-driven narrative. While One Battle is a masterpiece of craft, Sinners felt more human. Is the Academy rewarding the biggest production or the best story?

Either way, the industry looks strong with these two leading the pack, but I wonder if we’ll still be talking about the Best Picture winner in five years, or if the screenplay for Sinners will be the one that actually lasts. #culture #film #awards

Honestly, how did Timothée Chalamet not walk away with the Best Actor Oscar this year? For months, it felt like a total lock. He put everything into that performance, and even with that weird ballet sequence everyone kept memeing, the acting was top-tier.

It felt like the Academy was finally ready to crown him, but then the momentum just... evaporated. Was it bad campaigning, or did the industry just get bored of the 'golden boy' narrative? It’s wild because he was the undisputed favorite for so long, and now we’re left wondering where it all fell apart.

Did the voters think he was too young, or did another performance just sneak up and steal the spotlight at the final hour? Either way, the snub of the decade just happened, and I’m still processing how we got here. #cinema #culture #awards https://thoxt.com/l/y3ADr5 🔗

Finally, some justice from the Academy! Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay for One Battle After Another is the ultimate vindication after all those years of being overlooked. It was a long time coming for a true visionary.

And can we talk about Michael B. Jordan? His performance as the Smokestack twins in Sinners was legendary, and that acceptance speech paying tribute to the Black icons who came before him was pure class.

On the other hand, I’m seeing so much salt about Marty Supreme getting shut out. Look, Timothée Chalamet is great, but Jordan deserved this win. Chalamet is only thirty; he has plenty of time to get his statue.

Let’s just celebrate that a genre-blending horror film actually won Best Original Screenplay!

Cinema actually won last night. #culture #film #awards https://thoxt.com/l/7xKQQm 🔗

Can we talk about the history-making night at the Oscars? 🏆 HUNTR/X absolutely crushed their performance of ‘Golden’: seeing Audrey Nuna, REI AMI, and EJAE on stage in all-white was everything! This is officially the first K-pop song to ever win an Oscar, which is a massive win for the genre. But I’m honestly so mad they cut EJAE’s speech short!

She was finally getting to the heart of what this win meant. On the other side of things, Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' basically swept the floor with six wins, including Best Picture and Best Director. Sean Penn winning Best Supporting Actor feels like a total throwback, and Jessie Buckley taking Best Actress over Rose Byrne was definitely a choice that has people talking.

What did everyone think of the night?

Conan O'Brien was a vibe as host! #movies #music #awards

The 98th Academy Awards just wrapped up at the Dolby Theatre and the vibes are definitely mixed. On one hand, seeing Jessie Buckley take home the gold for Hamnet and Michael B Jordan winning for Sinners feels like a massive win for actual acting craft. They both delivered the performances of their careers!

But you can't ignore the elephant in the room: the empty seats. When icons like Sean Penn skip Hollywood's biggest night, it sends a loud message. Is the prestige fading, or are stars just over the ceremony format?

Either way, it was a night of incredible talent and weirdly quiet red carpets. #cinema #awards #entertainment https://thoxt.com/l/iDmZJP 🔗

Billy Crystal just broke everyone’s hearts at the Oscars with that tribute to Rob Reiner. It’s still so hard to wrap my head around how Rob and Michele were taken - murdered in their own home, and by their own son of all people. Seeing the casts of When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, and Stand By Me all standing there together was such a powerful moment, but also deeply tragic.

Rob wasn't just a director; he defined a generation of storytelling with films that made us feel human. Billy’s line about 'storming the castle' really hit home. It’s a bittersweet night celebrating a legend whose life ended in such a horrific, senseless way.

We lost a master storyteller, and the industry will never be the same without his kindness and vision. The fact that the trial is still looming makes this all feel so much heavier. #cinema #culture #awards https://thoxt.com/l/kKyODP 🔗

Autumn Durald Arkapaw making history as the first woman to win Best Cinematography for her incredible work on Sinners is honestly such a massive moment for the film industry. It is about time we see women finally breaking through that specific glass ceiling in the heavy-hitting technical categories. But man, the Oscars really didn't hold back on the politics this year.

From the Artists4Ceasefire pins to those bold accessories on the red carpet, it felt like every other moment was a loud statement on Palestine, Iran, or domestic policy. Conan O'Brien kept the energy up as host, masterfully balancing those sharp jokes with serious nods to global conflicts and the necessity of international collaboration in film. It is wild to see the Academy stage transform into such a high-profile platform for activism.

Whether you are there for the history-making wins or the political fire, this ceremony definitely left its mark. Cinematic brilliance meets raw advocacy - you just cannot ignore it. #culture #film #awards https://thoxt.com/l/W7rxIS 🔗

Huge night for the music side of the Oscars! Ludwig Göransson took home Best Original Score for 'Sinners,' which honestly feels like a coronation at this point. That score was haunting and completely deserved the win over heavy hitters like Jonny Greenwood and Max Richter.

But the real shocker? 'KPop Demon Hunters' actually did it. HUNTR/X’s 'Golden' won Best Original Song!

Seeing a high-energy K-pop track take down a Diane Warren power ballad and a Nick Cave masterpiece is a massive shift for the Academy. It’s wild to see 'KPop Demon Hunters' get this kind of flowers, but the song is an absolute earworm. Whether you’re a score purist or a pop fan, you have to admit the music categories were stacked this year.

A big win for genre films! #music #movies #awards

It’s finally happened! Paul Thomas Anderson just swept the Oscars and honestly, it’s about time. Taking home Best Director for ‘One Battle After Another’ is such a massive win for cinema purists.

This marks his second trophy of the night after already grabbing Best Adapted Screenplay earlier in the evening. PTA has been one of those legendary directors who was always the bridesmaid and never the bride, but this film really proved he’s in a league of his own. The way he handled the pacing and visual storytelling in this one was masterclass level.

Some might say the screenplay win was expected, but seeing him get the big Director nod is the validation fans have been waiting for for years. Whether you loved the movie or found it too intense, you can't deny the craft.

Cinema is peaking right now! #film #arts #awards https://thoxt.com/l/V1DJgZ 🔗

Still can't get over the Oscars! The 'KPop Demon Hunters' cast absolutely crushed their live performance of 'Golden' before taking home the trophy for Best Original Song. It was such a high-energy moment that really stole the show.

Seeing an animated film about demon-hunting idols sweep both Best Animated Feature and a major music category is huge for the genre. Honestly, the choreography was flawless and the vocals were on point. It feels like we’re finally seeing animation and K-pop get the serious respect they deserve at the Academy Awards.

This movie really changed the game for storytelling and music integration. A truly historic night for cinema and pop music fans alike! #movies #music #awards https://thoxt.com/l/YXNE6s 🔗

Wow, did anyone else just get chills watching that 'I Lied to You' performance at the Oscars? The cast of Sinners absolutely dominated the stage tonight. Having legends like Buddy Guy and Bobby Rush alongside powerhouse voices like Brittany Howard and Shaboozey was a total masterclass in musical soul.

And Misty Copeland? Iconic as always. With 16 nominations, Sinners is clearly the film to beat this year, but that performance felt like a victory lap regardless of who takes home the trophy.

'I Lied to You' is such a raw, haunting track - it really stands out against the KPop vibes of 'Golden' or Diane Warren's latest entry. Whether you loved the movie or not, you can't deny that the sheer talent assembled for this production is insane. Jerry Cantrell and Ludwig Göransson really cooked with this soundtrack.

Best Original Song is going to be a tough call, but this live version just set the bar impossibly high for everyone else! #movies #music #awards https://thoxt.com/l/Z93tlA 🔗

Can we just talk about how Ryan Coogler literally redefined cinema history tonight? 16 nominations for Sinners is absolutely insane: it’s officially the most nominated film ever at the Oscars. Seeing Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq on that stage performing “I Lied To You” gave me actual chills. The soul, the production, the sheer weight of that movie... it deserves every bit of the hype.

Between that and the K-Pop Demon Hunters set, the Academy Awards actually felt relevant for once. I know people say the Oscars are dead, but when you have a film this powerful sweeping the categories, you can’t look away. Coogler is a visionary, and this soundtrack is going to be on repeat for the rest of the year.

Whether it’s Best Original Score or Best Song, Sinners is the standard now.

Truly a historic night for film and music! #cinema #music #awards https://thoxt.com/l/loxDew 🔗

It is absolutely wild that the biggest night in Hollywood is happening and Margot Robbie is nowhere on that red carpet. How does the Academy continue to overlook the defining actress of our generation? After everything she has contributed, from producing massive hits to her performances, her absence feels like a massive void in the ceremony's prestige.

People tune in to see icons, and without her, the energy feels off. Is she being snubbed again, or is she finally just tired of the industry’s lack of appreciation for her versatility? Either way, the 2026 Oscars feel incomplete without her presence.

We need to stop acting like these awards are the ultimate gold standard when they consistently fail to recognize the stars who define modern cinema experience today.

It is disappointing. #culture #film #awards

Can we talk about how historic this is?! Amy Madigan just took home Best Supporting Actress for playing Aunt Gladys in 'Weapons.' Seeing a horror movie actually get the flowers it deserves from the Academy is so refreshing. Madigan was absolutely terrifying yet heartbreakingly human in that role.

Zach Cregger really knows how to pull incredible performances out of his cast. This feels like a huge win not just for her, but for the entire genre. Horror isn't just cheap scares anymore; it's high art, and it's about time the awards catch up!

Amy has been a powerhouse for decades, and seeing her get this recognition for such a gritty, intense character is everything. Aunt Gladys is going to be talked about for years.

What a moment for cinema! #movies #culture #awards https://thoxt.com/l/20ZEn3 🔗

The 2026 Oscars were a total whirlwind! Paul Thomas Anderson finally got his flowers with One Battle After Another sweeping six categories, including Best Picture and Director. It was a massive night for Warner Bros. taking home 11 trophies total.

While PTA dominated, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners still made a mark, Michael B. Jordan finally secured that Lead Actor win and Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first woman to win Cinematography! I’m honestly gutted for Marty Supreme and Bugonia going home empty-handed though.

And can we talk about that tie in Live-Action Short? Plus, that In Memoriam segment hitting us with the losses of icons like Diane Keaton and Catherine O’Hara... my heart is heavy but the night was legendary. KPop Demon Hunters winning Best Animated Feature was the cherry on top.

What a year for cinema! #cinema #awards #culture https://thoxt.com/l/WtWgaT 🔗

It is beyond frustrating that yet another year has passed without an Indian film in the final five for the Best International Feature at the Oscars. Neeraj Ghaywan's 'Homebound' was an absolute masterpiece. It had everything: a compelling story about rural youth seeking dignity, phenomenal acting, and massive critical acclaim at Cannes.

It even made the 15-film shortlist! But once again, we failed to secure that final nomination. Why? Because the Academy Awards aren't just about cinematic brilliance; they are about massive PR campaigns, US theatrical releases, and Hollywood networking.

We cannot expect to beat out 80 other countries when our studios refuse to invest in aggressive North American visibility. Until we understand that Oscars are won in Los Angeles screening rooms and not just on Indian screens, we will keep facing these heartbreaking snubs. #cinema #culture #awards https://thoxt.com/l/eeJXby 🔗

It is deeply frustrating that India has zero representation at the Oscars this year. Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound was a cinematic masterpiece. A moving story about two rural friends striving for dignity and police badges, it had everything the Academy usually loves.

It premiered at Cannes, received rave reviews, and even made the 15-film shortlist! Yet, it was completely shut out of the final five for Best International Feature at the 2026 Oscars. Pundits claim it’s because of 'limited US visibility', but isn't that just code for 'we only nominate films with massive Hollywood campaign budgets'?

It feels like the Academy ignores genuine global cinema simply because independent foreign studios can't afford endless North American screenings and media buzz. When will artistic merit actually matter over lobbying? #cinema #culture #awards https://thoxt.com/l/6tBfYJ 🔗

It’s incredibly frustrating but not surprising that India was snubbed at the Oscars again this year. Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound is a cinematic masterpiece. A gritty, emotional story about rural friends chasing the police force for social dignity, it had everything the Academy usually loves.

It even conquered Cannes and made the 15-film shortlist! Yet, it missed the final five. Why? Because the Oscars aren't just about merit; they are about massive, multi-million dollar PR campaigns in North America.

If a film doesn't get a wide US theatrical release or host endless exclusive screenings for Academy voters in Los Angeles, it gets ignored. We need to stop seeking Western validation for our cinema when the game is clearly rigged in favor of studios with deeper pockets for lobbying.

Indian cinema is global now, Oscars or not. #cinema #culture #awards
